Chilato is a start-up business that blends together ice cream with the customer's own choice of frozen fruit to create an individual dessert for each customer. It is sold at mobile points of sale. A unique point about this business is that the owners involve their children in all aspects of the business development, including the branding.
On the basis of the client's brief, the aim was to create a completely new brand. I started with a memorable, eye-catching logo and then expanded on this into choosing the colours, fonts and imagery, and finally the overall design of a trailer and a truck to best represent and highlight the brand. From here the idea was to bring everything together to encompass the whole of the "Chilato Experience". This included its relaxed beach feel that the client wanted the brand to project, through to marketing ideas such as the "Picture your Area"-Contest or the "Tablet-Surfboard" for social media selfie shots. |
Imagine a perfect summer’s day, on the beach with the kids. The sky is blue, the grass is green, there’s lots of laughter and fun. The water is warm and refreshing; kids on boogie boards and lots of splashing; young ones are building sand castles; teenagers are yakking lying on beach towels; frisbees are flying; beach umbrellas proliferate. People are relaxed, happy and stresses have evaporated. This is a quintessential kiwi summer. |
